If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing beach vacation, come on down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. You’ll love the soft white beaches and the gentle surf of the Gulf. And we’ve got plenty of pet-friendly lodgings–hotels, motels, inns, cottages, and bed and breakfasts–to choose from.

What’s a beach vacation without the beach? Check out our guide to the pet-friendly beaches of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to see where you can and can’t take your pet for some waterside fun.

Keep in mind the Gulf is a beautiful place to visit all year round. If you need a reason to visit, here are a few of our favorite festivals that you can enjoy with your pet. The good citizens of Gautier love their mullet (the fish, not the hairstyle) and celebrate their obsession every year with the Mullet and Music Fest, held in October. It includes the Mullet Toss (how can you not love a festival that lets you throw fish?), dog agility exhibitions, lots of music, and the crowning of the Mullet king and queen.

In May, there is the Annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Kite Festival. Find yourself a good spot along Highway 90 and you and your pup can watch the kites flying over Long Beach Harbor in Long Beach.

Believe it or not, Mardi Gras was celebrated in Mobile before it was in New Orleans and the people of the Gulf Coast love their Mardi Gras, with more than 20 different parades being held in coastal towns each year. If you and your pup love to party, what better way to do it than plan a Mississippi Mardi Gras road trip?

And lastly, be sure to catch the Paws on Parade and Pet Festival in Bay St. Louis, held in March every year by the Friends of the Animal Shelter. The event includes a pet blessing, a costume parade, and paw readers.
