If you take your pet to Yellowstone National Park, you won’t be able to do much hiking, as pets are not permitted in the backcountry or on any of the hiking trails or boardwalks. On leash or crated, dogs and cats are only allowed within 100 feet of the roads and in the parking areas.

The good news is that dogs and cats (up to two per cabin) are permitted to stay in the following cabins within Yellowstone National Park: Lake Hotel Cabins, Lake Lodge Cabins, Mammoth Hotel Cabins, Canyon Lodge Cabins, Old Faithful Lodge Cabins, and Snow Lodge Cabins. Fees do apply, you can’t leave your pet unattended in the cabin, you need to declare your pet when registering, and you need to have a certificate of vaccinations and health if asked for it.

Your other option is to stay at one of our pet-friendly lodgings outside of the park and to take advantage of pet daycare and boarding in the Yellowstone Park area, allowing you to explore the park more fully.
